James has been involved in music education for nearly 15 years and taken master classes in band leading and musicianship, saxophone and improvisation seminars and worked in schools for children with learning difficulties and disadvantaged youth.

In 2011 James was commissioned by Canary Wharf to compose a piece of music for The Compass Suite. James composed a song in which he chose to involve secondary school children from the oval area in a group called Kinetica Blocko, a carnival style brass band, drum section and dance troop. The piece was performed in public on an orbital stage in Canada Square with an audience of 2000+ people.

James also has a string of lessons based around improvisation on the website promusictutor.com (see links)

He continues to have an interest in music education, passing on knowledge and nurturing future generations of people and musicians.
